The convenience and challenges of disposable pallets
Source: kuda  Time2026-02-11
Disposable plastic pallets, as the core tool of modern logistics systems, have become the preferred choice for warehousing, transportation, and retail scenarios due to their lightweight, durable, and cost controllable characteristics. Its standardized design (such as four-way fork in structure) significantly improves handling efficiency, adapts to various shelves and transportation vehicles, and provides basic support for the efficient operation of the global supply chain. Especially in the food and fast-moving consumer goods industries, its anti slip treatment and hygiene safety have further consolidated its market position and become an indispensable carrier for modular logistics.
The convenience and challenges of disposable pallets

Disposable plastic pallets are often made of thermoplastic materials such as polypropylene (PP) or high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which have both high strength and chemical stability, and can withstand the impact of repeated stacking and forklift operations.
Its surface is smooth and easy to clean, coupled with anti slip rubber design, effectively preventing displacement risks during cargo transportation and ensuring the safety of logistics processes.

The popularization of standardized sizes (such as the European standard CP3) has enabled seamless cross-border logistics and provided a universal solution for global trade.

Technological innovation: Developing biodegradable materials or enhancing cleaning processes to improve the safety of tray reuse, especially in breaking through hygiene standards in the food industry.

Policy guidance: Strengthen environmental regulations and promote enterprises to establish recycling systems, such as the new national standard for disposable pallets (GB/T 20077-2025) in China, which standardizes material classification and performance, providing a framework for industry transformation.

The sustainable development of disposable plastic pallets requires multi-party collaboration. Industry associations have improved the acceptance of the recycled pallet market by establishing unified recycling standards.

Optimizing design for enterprises to reduce damage rates, such as modular structures that facilitate component replacement and reduce overall scrap. The increasing public awareness of environmental protection is driving the demand side towards recyclable solutions, forming a closed-loop ecology of "production use recycling". In this process, pallets are no longer just logistics consumables, but a key pivot of the green supply chain.
