In addition to reducing damage to forest resources, their significant characteristics such as moisture resistance, insect resistance, corrosion resistance, high load-bearing capacity, and long service life are widely favored by various industries. But a small portion of plastic pallets may fade after long-term use. So, what are the reasons that cause plastic pallets to fade?
What is the reason for plastic pallet fading
Generally speaking, the main reason for the fading of plastic pallets is caused by aging (degradation). The fading situation of plastic pallets varies depending on their materials. For example, plastic pallets made of polypropylene have unstable side bases on polypropylene, especially under long sunlight conditions, which are more prone to fading due to material aging or degradation. Therefore, light stabilizers are added during production. However, due to the lack of side bases, it is not common for PE material plastic pallets to have yellowing during early processing or use.
In addition to lighting factors, the following factors can also cause fading of plastic pallets:
1、 Toner combination: Generally, the main materials of plastic pallet products are polyethylene and polypropylene, which have poor acid and alkali resistance. This is mainly related to the acid and alkali resistance, oxidation resistance, and recovery of the used toner.
2、 The fluctuation of dyes: The fluctuation of dyes used in the production of plastic products can affect the level of fading of the products. The main materials used in the production of plastic pallets are HDPP and HDPE, and the injection molding temperature is required to be above 280 ℃. Therefore, when selecting colorants, the high-temperature resistance of the dyes must be considered.
3、 Material: Currently, plastic pallets are mainly made of new and recycled materials. If too many impurities are added and frequently used, it is easy to damage the plastic pallets and cause fading.
The fading of plastic pallets is usually closely related to the aging of the plastic pallet material. The aging of the material can increase the brittleness of the plastic pallet, reduce its load-bearing capacity, and easily lead to breakage. In daily use, in addition to avoiding long-term exposure to sunlight and rain, attention should also be paid to the storage environment, oxygen content, and pH value.
