The material difference of plastic pallets
Source: kuda  Time2025-01-15
The commonly used raw materials for plastic pallets are HDPE (high-density polyethylene) and PP (polypropylene), each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Usually, the corresponding plastic pallet is selected according to its own usage environment. Let's take a look at the differences between the two.

The material difference of plastic pallets

High density polyethylene plastic pallets have good toughness and impact resistance, but their service life is greatly affected by the environment. Especially in arid and low-temperature weather environments in the north, the ability to resist low temperatures is poor, and long-term turnover is prone to brittleness and breakage. The characteristic of PE polyethylene is that it is insoluble in water and has very low water absorption. Even for some chemical solvents such as toluene and acetic acid, it only slightly dissolves at temperatures above 70 ℃. Plastic pallets made of polyethylene have good wear resistance, strong impact resistance, light weight, and long service life. Because polyethylene contains many organic solvents, plastic pallets made from polyethylene also have good corrosion resistance and will not be damaged even in oxidizing environments. The mechanical properties of PE polyethylene are generally average, with low tensile strength, poor creep resistance, and good impact resistance.

PP plastic has excellent mechanical properties, as well as good impact resistance and corrosion resistance. The comprehensive performance of PP is superior to that of PE material. PP plastic pallet products are lightweight, have good toughness, and good chemical resistance. Polypropylene (PP) plastic pallet, made by injection molding or blow molding of polypropylene material. Polypropylene material is a semi transparent colorless solid with no odor or stimulating taste. Density of 0.90g/cm3, it is a lightweight universal plastic. Corrosion resistance, tensile strength of 30MPa, better strength, rigidity, and transparency than polyethylene. The disadvantage is poor low-temperature impact resistance and easy aging. Polypropylene plastic pallets have higher strength than polyethylene plastic pallets, but have a shorter service life and are prone to aging. Especially when used in outdoor environments, it is prone to aging. Disadvantages of PP: low dimensional accuracy, insufficient rigidity, poor weather resistance, and susceptibility to "copper damage". It has a phenomenon of post shrinkage, and after demolding, it is prone to aging, brittleness, and deformation.
